SOCIAL SPACE PERSONAL DISTANCING 2020
3m x 3m
Air and plastic sculpture, humans, inner-public space, air blower.
A performative object or sculpture will be inflated using the air from the surroundings. The dimensions for this sculpture will be 3 meters wide by 2.50 meters high. This dimension is related to Taipei's COVID 19 social distancing regulations for indoor public interactions. The spatial regulation dictates that a distance of 1.5 meters needs to be maintained between 2 or more human bodies. The viewer, which simultaneously is the performer, will be confronted with the visual presence of social distancing measurements. This performance envisions the volume of spatial regulations (1.5 meters) in inner public spaces and generates discourse about our current situation and spatial understanding.
